Biltong Maker Review
As soon as I saw the Satara Biltong Maker on Amazon, I knew I had to get it. It had excellent reviews, came in a range of colors, and was reasonably priced – all within my budget of £100.
I knew this would make the perfect Christmas present for this biltong-loving man, and I’ve been using it for five years now with no issues. It’s held up well and is still going strong.
Buying a Biltong Box
I was keen to purchase a Biltong box from a UK-based company to make it easier to obtain spare parts. I usually turn to Amazon for my purchases due to the fast delivery and the option to return items if they’re faulty.
During my online search, I came across the Biltong box on Amazon and was pleased to see that it was available in six different colors:
The seller, Brad, seemed to be very responsive to customer queries and concerns, as I could see from the reviews that he promptly answered questions and replaced any broken items. I was also reassured that he sold spare parts such as fans and biltong hooks.
Taking all of this into consideration, I decided to go ahead and purchase the Biltong box from Amazon for £99.99.
What is Included in the Box?
In the image above, you can see the Biltong Dryer’s top and Bottom panels. The dryer is flat packed.

It is easy to assemble. It has rigid corner beading that provides greater strength and reliability to hold the 3mm thick impact-resistant acrylic Perspex sides.
Satara Biltong Box
The lid and base of the biltong box have a matte finish, giving it a sleek, professional appearance.
The rods are made from square aluminum and can be placed at different locations along the black angled support bracket, allowing you to adjust the distance of the meat from the light bulb as needed.
This gives you the flexibility to customize the drying process to your preference.
These biltong hooks are included and are sold in sets of 9 on Amazon for £1.99 each if you need more.
You can buy the 9 x plastic biltong hooks from Amazon.
Three aluminum rods are included, but more could be bought if required. The rod holders have been designed for easy clip-on and off.
This makes cleaning the machine much easier. I put mine in the dishwasher to be washed after I have made biltong.
Assembling the Biltong Box
The dimensions of the biltong box are as follows:
- Heights = 510 mm
- Width = 300 mm
- Depth = 300 mm
- Fully Assembled
It can hold up to 3 kg of meat, and the 3mm clear impact acrylic provides a clear view of the meat while drying. I always put some tinfoil and a roller towel on the base. This makes cleaning much easier.
My Final Thoughts About the Biltong Maker
If you’re interested in making biltong at home, this is the perfect biltong machine for you. It seals tightly and contains all the smells, making it easy to clean and maintain. The machine is professionally made and feels sturdy, and it looks great in my study.
It only takes about four and a half days to make biltong with this machine – if I hang freshly spiced meat on a Tuesday evening, it will be ready to eat by Saturday afternoon. I’ve been using this biltong maker for three years, and it’s still going strong, so I wholeheartedly recommend it.
If you don’t want to make your own biltong at home, you can purchase it online from companies like Cruga, Raging Bull, or St Marcus, either through their online shops or on Amazon.
